Within DSM, DSM Legal Affairs (DLA) is the global department for legal support with approximately 50 legal counsel working in various regions around the world. Its main task is to give added value advice and service to the Business Groups of DSM. DLA also supports the Corporate Departments and Service Units, such as Human Resources, Tax, Finance, Innovation, Risk Management, Sourcing and ICT.

You will be responsible for the broad legal support of various Business and/or Service Units. Your initial focus will be on advising the Sourcing Department, one of the main Service Units with a yearly spend of several billion euros. Within this department, you will advise the business and management on a wide range of commercial legal issues. You will be working predominantly on a variety of national and international contracts that can be substantial in value and complexity. You will be drafting, reviewing and negotiating these contracts. Conflict handling will also be an aspect of your activities. You will be based in Sittard and you will report to the Regional Legal Manager, holding office in DSM’s global headquarters in Heerlen.
Profiel
master degree in law (Dutch or foreign)5 to 8 years professional experience as a lawyer within a law firm and/or
as an in-house lawyer
good knowledge of and affinity with contract law
hands-on experience with drafting, preparing and negotiating contracts
strong personality, flexible and strong business sense
inquisitive, solution oriented
excellent communication skills
