Overview of the Legal Market
Legal People is the oldest agency in the Netherlands active in search & selection for law and notary firms. We were also the first agency to mediate lawyer-partners and notaries. Over the past 30 years, we have facilitated many transitions of partners, sometimes with their entire teams.
We engage in discussions with individual partners who are looking to explore their options. We share our knowledge with them and proactively explore market opportunities together. Naturally, this is done very discreetly, calmly, in the confidential setting of our office. We discuss the ambitions and potential opportunities at one or more firms together.
From our position in the legal market, we have a clear insight into the strategies and ambitions of virtually all relevant firms. This enables us to provide high added value by offering honest and sound advice to both individual partners and firms. We have a clear overview of the entire legal market; from large (international) firms at the Zuidas, mid-sized national firms, to niche and boutique firms across the country.
Search for Partners
Our Partner Search service is twofold. Firstly, we work specifically and on behalf of our clients to fill concrete partner positions. In this case, our years-perfected search is employed and all relevant candidates are discreetly approached by us. Our familiarity with the market ensures that we quickly sit down with the right candidates.
Meetings at Legal People’s Office
In both forms of service mentioned above, the initial meetings between a partner and a potentially interested firm always take place at the office of Legal People. This ensures that parties can meet on equal terms and on neutral ground. Here too, confidentiality is paramount.
Various Legal Fields
We perform this partner mediation for candidates who are already partners (lawyer-partner or notary). The specialization can lie in various legal fields. Depending on the situation or the possibilities at the potentially interested firms, having a portable practice may or may not be a condition for a transition. The personal fit, matching the culture and strategy of the new firm, and, for example, the desired level of entrepreneurial qualities and ambitions are part of the proposition and must be carefully discussed in the conversations.
PACT Measurement Provides Insights
In collaboration with the Hoofdkantoor, we have developed a PACT measurement, a unique personality assessment for lawyers. This PACT measurement provides insights into a partner’s natural strength among other things.
Process Guidance
After the first introduction, the subsequent process also requires customization and perception management of all parties involved. Our experience with these processes greatly adds value for a smooth and careful process. Our experience shows that in this way, we connect parties for the long term, sometimes for more than 25 years.
